The coronavirus pandemic will not be defeated without collective action

(ORDO NEWS) — The coronavirus situation is only getting worse. Over the past month, the number of infected has increased again. Tedros Gebreyesus told about it. He urges rich nations not to stockpile booster doses, but to share them with poor nations.

The mortality rate, which began to fall in the spring, is rapidly increasing again. There are reports from around the world that hospitals are overcrowded. A new strain of the Delta virus began to spread very quickly. To date, it has been found in 104 countries. The head of the WHO added that, most likely, this particular strain will become dominant in the near future.

If only vaccines are used to combat the coronavirus pandemic, then this will not bring the desired result. At the same time, they are considered the most effective way to combat a dangerous virus. Tedros noted that the situation is much worse in those countries where there are not enough vaccines. At the same time, the pandemic did not end in any of the states and continues to claim the lives of people.

In order to solve such a serious problem, countries need to join forces. Coronavirus can only be overcome together. The head of WHO stressed that some countries order a huge amount of vaccines for booster doses, while others do not have the ability to vaccinate the poor. Until vaccines are distributed more evenly, the victory over the coronavirus can only be dreamed of. Tedros called on pharmaceutical companies to grant vaccine licenses and talk about their technologies. Due to this, it will be possible to increase the production of drugs and more people will be able to get vaccinated.
