(ORDO NEWS) — Nearly 200 Afghans were killed in a terrorist attack on Thursday near the Kabul airport. The Wall Street Journal reported this on Friday, citing Afghan doctors.
Earlier, the CBS television company, citing the Afghan Ministry of Health, informed that the explosion killed at least 170 people, mostly Afghans.
On August 26, near the building of the Kabul airport, through which Western countries evacuate foreign citizens, a terrorist attack took place by suicide bombers from the Islamic State group (IS).
American President Joe Biden said that the United States will find the culprits and are already preparing plans for strikes against IS. The radical Taliban movement that seized power in Afghanistan condemned the incident and also promised to bring the perpetrators to justice.
A Pentagon spokesman said on Friday that there was one explosion in the airport area, not two. Earlier, the defense department confirmed that 13 American soldiers were among the dead.
