(ORDO NEWS) — Students at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia have created a solar-powered electric vehicle that recently set a new world record by driving over 1,000 kilometers on a single charge in less than 12 hours.
In order to set a record, I had to make some “sacrifices”: they removed the ABS, airbags, windshield wipers from the electric car and turned off the air conditioner.
The electric car was moving at a nearly constant speed of 83 kilometers per hour to save energy, so the trip took 11 hours 53 minutes and 32 seconds.
