(ORDO NEWS) — Strombolian activity has been spotted in the new southeastern crater of Mount Etna over the past couple of days. The column of ash rose to about 3500 m.
The explosions were almost continuous throughout the night, with the volcano often spewing hot lava bombs on the outer sides of the crater cone.
Overall, there was also a slight upward trend in activity.
Meanwhile, intensive degassing continues in the craters of the Vorajin and Bocca Nuova peaks.
