(ORDO NEWS) — For a long time, scientists could not understand why Stonehenge was built. Over time, they came to the conclusion that he was an ancient calendar, the scheme of which, at the same time, they still could not “bite through”.
A recent discovery by experts has helped solve this mystery. It turned out that the stones of the structure, located in three different formations, represented a calendar year.
30 sarsen formed a large stone circle and represented the days of the month. Another 5 stones that were collected in a trilithon are additional days that had to be added to 360 (30 x 12) for the correct counting of days in a year.
It is important to understand that the calendar needs to be partially changed to match its solar year. This is done by adding one additional leap day every four years. For this, the researchers believe, four station stones served.
