US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg appealed to the members of the NATO Military Committee to support the defense capabilities of the member countries of the alliance, including in connection with Russian policy. This is stated in a statement by the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Stuart Peach.
The secretary general advised the allies in the alliance not only to increase defense spending, but also to invest in modern capabilities and ensure that NATO military personnel remain ready to respond to allegedly aggressive actions by Russia, the risks from the rise of China and terrorism.
Stoltenberg also said that an international order based on rules, democracy and the values of NATO member countries is “challenged.”
On January 26, US President Joseph Biden held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, during which he discussed the intention to interact with the alliance on Iraq, Afghanistan and Russia.
