(ORDO NEWS) — The American private space company SpaceX launched another batch of Starlink satellites. At the same time, the company set another record.
The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from the Cape Canaveral launch site at 09:44 local time (18:44 Kyiv time). As part of the Starlink mission, another batch of 46 Starlink satellites was launched into orbit.
Record first stage landing
Approximately nine minutes after launch, the first stage of the launch vehicle landed on a special floating platform called A Shortfall of Gravitas , which was located off the coast of Florida in the Atlantic Ocean.
This landing was the 100th for the first stages of the Falcon 9 launch vehicles. In total, SpaceX has already carried out 107 successful landings of the first stage of rockets.
SpaceX production manager Jessie Anderson noted that this launch was the 11th for the first stage of the launch vehicle used as part of this mission. This achievement is a record for the company, since SpaceX has not used the first stages more than 10 times before.
Starlink launches
- This year marks the fourth time SpaceX has launched Starlink satellites into space, with two launches in February and two in January.
- Since the last launch, 40 of the 49 launched satellites have been disabled by a geomagnetic storm. These satellites entered the Earth‘s atmosphere, where they burned up.
- According to available data, the satellites launched as part of the mission will be placed in orbits with an altitude of 325 to 337 km. In total, SpaceX has launched about 2,100 satellites into space.
