SpaceX is going to deploy Starlink satellites on Mars
(ORDO NEWS) — Many have heard about Elon Musk‘s plans to conquer Mars. A few days ago, the CEO of SpaceX announced that the first Starship flight to the Red Planet will take place in 2024, and today SpaceX plans to deploy Starlink satellites on Mars!
In a recent interview with TIME magazine, SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell spoke about the company’s plans to deploy the Starlink satellite system on Mars. “Once we get humans to Mars, they will need communication networks,” Shotwell said. “In fact, I think having a network like Starlink around Mars is more important [than here on Earth].”
However, deploying a satellite system around Mars will not be enough. “And then, of course, we will need to ‘connect’ the two planets. We will take care of a reliable connection between Mars and Earth, ”added Shotwell.
The SpaceX president also revealed what she thinks about colonizing Mars. “We do not say that the Earth is hopeless when we think about moving a person to other planets. In fact, the move simply gives humanity a chance in case something terrible happens on Earth; relocation can save humanity by allowing it to live on a ‘second Earth’. ”
Shotwell emphasized that the company has made significant strides forward in recent years. She remembers the days when Elon Musk first set a goal in 2002 to create a transportation system that would connect the Earth and Mars, and now, 20 years later, SpaceX almost fulfilled this task.
