(ORDO NEWS) — One of the most famous and complete skulls of an adult tyrannosaurus rex (Tyrannosaurus rex) will go up for public auction in New York on December 9th.
According to the auction house Sotheby’s, it will probably be sold for 20 million US dollars.
The Tyrannosaurus rex fossil was nicknamed “Maximus”, although it is not known whether the ancient lizard was male or female.
The remains of the dinosaur were discovered in South Dakota, in the famous Hell Creek Formation, a deposit rich in fossils. The age of Maximus is estimated at about 76 million years.
