(ORDO NEWS) — The sisters from Japan turned 107 years and 300 days old. Thanks to this, they became the oldest identical twins that live on Earth. The sisters were included in the Guinness Book of Records. The new record was set on Honoring the Elder Day, which is considered a national holiday in Japan.
This is reported by Сhosun.com.
Umeno Sumiyama and Koume Kodama were born into a family of 13 in 1913. After they graduated from school, the sisters left for different cities and later saw each other only at weddings or funerals of relatives. Today they live in nursing homes across Japan. Due to the pandemic, the record certificates were sent to women by mail.
It is worth paying attention to the fact that it is in Japan that the highest life expectancy is observed. The previously set record was also held by the Japanese women Kin and Jin, who turned 107 years and 175 days old. Today, the oldest woman in the world is considered a resident of Japan named Kane Tanaka, who has already celebrated her 118th birthday.
