Serial killer Lonnie Franklin dies in US
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — American serial killer Lonnie Franklin, also known as the Grim Sleeper (“The Evil Sleeping”), died at San Quentin Prison in California, 68 years old. This was reported on Sunday by the Associated Press with reference to employees of the correctional institution.
According to them, Franklin was found dead on Saturday night in his cell. The cause of death has not yet been identified, but no injuries were found on the body of the deceased.
According to the agency, Franklin was sentenced to death for the killing of 10 people. His victims were women, including a teenage girl, and he operated mainly in Los Angeles. He received the nickname “Ominous Sleeping”, because, apparently, he temporarily stopped his criminal activity from the 1980s to 2002.
Since sentencing in 2016, Franklin has been awaiting his execution.
According to the Associated Press, no one has been executed in California since 2006, so prisoners are more likely to die of old age than to be executed.
