Scientists talked about trying to establish the primary source of coronavirus

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Nature magazine published an article that collected the views of scientists from different countries about the occurrence of the virus. It also calls for finding the source of its origin in different countries.

The new coronavirus could be transmitted to people from animals, which hinders the search for its primary source. Genetic branches can give an answer to this question, Russian experts said in an interview with Izvestia.

The publication mentions the draft resolution, which states that it is necessary to intensify the search for the zoonotic source of the virus.

So, a researcher from the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, Shi Yi intends to study the most genetically closest sample to the new coronavirus – RatG13.

He talked about plans to introduce an inactivated version of RatG13 to different animals, including bats and monkeys, to find out if the virus develops a similar mutation pattern with SARS-CoV-2. If a similarity is found, then scientists will understand which animals the virus adapted to before being transmitted to humans.

Many studies show that the new coronavirus can easily go to different animals. Laboratory experiments have confirmed that cats, ferrets and hamsters are sensitive to SARS-CoV-2. In addition, the infection was found in domestic cats and dogs, and in tigers and lions in zoos. Most likely, they were infected from people.

Later it will become known from which village or other settlement the infection went, where the coronavirus passed from the wild to man.
