Scientists revealed the secret of megastructures in the center of the Milky Way
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — In the area of the center of the Milky Way are megastructures, which are also called Fermi bubbles. Objects were discovered by specialists from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics ten years ago. Then no one could explain their origin. Only recently, the secret was finally revealed.
In total there are several megastructures that are located on two sides of our galaxy. Each object extends for 25 thousand light years. X-rays and gamma rays emanate from Fermi bubbles over time.
Recent studies of megastructures were carried out using a hydrodynamic model. Over a period of six million years, activity was shown by a supermassive black hole, from which relativistic jets emanated. It was due to them that bubbles appeared.
The nature of the formations was studied by Chinese scientists. They called jets of black holes jets. These jets are sent in opposite directions and can easily cover distances in the tens of thousands of light-years.
As it turned out, jets have enough energy to form a powerful shock wave. After another explosion, megastructures formed near the Milky Way.
Thus, the mystery of Fermi’s bubbles, which worried scientists a decade, after so much time was solved. The appearance of objects is closely related to the black holes that exist in any galaxy.
