(ORDO NEWS) — Many people know that black holes usually suck in matter rather than eject it. However, NASA scientists have discovered something very strange in the supermassive black hole Markarian 335.
Two NASA space telescopes, including the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR), observed a black hole corona ejected from a supermassive black hole.
Then a huge burst of X-ray energy erupted. Scientists have never observed this kind of phenomenon before.
“This is the first time we have been able to link a corona launch to a flare. This will help us understand how supermassive black holes power some of the brightest objects in space,” said Dan Wilkins of St. Mary’s University.
This is one of the most important discoveries to date.
NuSTAR principal investigator Fiona Harrison noted that the nature of the energy source was “mysterious,” but added that being able to record the event should have provided some clues about the size and structure of a black hole, as well as hopefully some new information about how black holes work. holes. Lucky for us, this black hole is still 324 million light-years away.
So, no matter what weird things he did, it shouldn’t have affected our corner of space.
While we like to think we have a pretty good understanding of the cosmos, much of what we think of as knowledge is just theory that has yet to be disproved. Looks like some textbooks will have to be rewritten.
