(ORDO NEWS) — Danish scientists have questioned the theory of the structure of the universe. A summary of the study is published on the University of Copenhagen website.
Previously, it was believed that the universe is 5% ordinary matter, 25% dark matter and 70% dark energy. Danish physicists believe that such a ratio may be incorrect, and dark energy is being replaced by dark matter, presented in the form of magnetic forces.
“We removed dark energy from the equation and added several new properties of dark matter. These properties seem to have the same effect on the expansion of the universe as dark energy,” explains study co-author Steen Harle Hansen.
According to the new theory, 25% of dark matter is endowed with special qualities that make 70% of dark energy virtually useless. As follows from the conclusions of the scientific group, the magnetic force of dark matter affects the expansion of the universe in the same way as dark energy.
At the same time, scientists admitted that their discovery may be just a coincidence, and they need more research.
