(ORDO NEWS) — The new ocean will divide Africa (the continent) into two parts.

This conclusion was reached by a group of scientists studying the African rift. It appeared in 2005 and has been giving researchers trouble since then.

An international group of scientists conducted a study of seismic activity in the area of the African fault. It (activity) is very similar to the processes that take place at the bottom of the ocean.

Of course, many scientists were shocked by the announcement that the continent would be divided into parts by a new ocean.

And for people, the news is quite unusual. But in recent years, so many incredible things have happened that no one excludes the appearance of a new ocean.

Dr. Edwin Dindi of the University of Nairobi’s Faculty of Science and Technology said there is a high probability that a new ocean is already forming along the eastern arm of the African Rift Valley.

Now there is high seismic activity here, geologists are constantly recording new underground tremors.

The ocean will indeed appear, but not today or tomorrow, but after several tens or hundreds of millions of years.

Tectonic plates are in a state that geologists call “chaotic.” They move without a clearly defined trajectory and constantly touch each other.

The aftershocks are not as strong as they were recently in Turkey and Syria. But nevertheless, animals feel them, because of this they are nervous. The situation is really a bit tense.

By the way, this kind of activity within the continental crust at one time caused the formation of the East African Rift Valley. It is known that it is still expanding and when this process will stop is unclear.
