US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — About one in five COVID-19 cases is also infected with other respiratory viruses. This conclusion was reached by specialists at Stanford University Medical Center in the United States, refuting the myth that those with ARVI are unlikely to become infected with coronavirus.
In addition, one in ten patients admitted to the emergency room with symptoms of a respiratory illness, which was subsequently confirmed, was ill with COVID-19.
Earlier, the Italian virologist Roberto Bourioni dispelled the myth that a pandemic could decline in the summer due to warming. The specialist noted that only restrictive measures already introduced by some states are effective in combating the virus.
Irina Shilkina, the chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, in turn, refuted the myth that the presence of coronavirus infection can supposedly be checked by holding the breath for 10-15 seconds: if there is no discomfort, the person is healthy.
The COVID-19 pandemic, the first cases of which were recorded in the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of last year, covered 177 countries. According to the latest WHO data, more than 690 thousand cases of infection have been recorded in the world, over 33 thousand people have died.
