(ORDO NEWS) — Some supermassive black holes in the center of galaxies can be “portals” to distant regions of the universe. This is the conclusion reached by Russian scientists, whose research was published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Society.
According to experts, the spacecraft can theoretically pass through such “portals” or “wormholes”, but the high level of radiation in them will not give the crew a chance to survive.
The researchers note that black holes, like “wormholes”, have powerful gravity, however, unlike the latter, they have no outlet at another point in the universe.
As one of the authors of the work, physicist Mikhail Petrovich, clarified, scientists have made little progress in the study of “wormholes.” The nearest similar object is located at a distance of 13 million light years from Earth, which is still an unattainable distance for humans.
