Russian S-400 intercept hypersonic missile
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Russia used the S-400 Triumph to intercept a hypersonic missile during exercises in Eastern Siberia.
A statement on this subject reads: “During the course of the combat firing, more than a dozen targets simulated by Armavir-type target missiles and Favorit type intelligent hypersonic target-missiles were destroyed. All goals were amazed.”
Rile RTThe S-400 Triumph is the latest long-range and medium-range missile system, which was adopted by the Russian army in 2007. Designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles.
It can also be used against ground targets. S-400 can hit targets at a distance of up to 400 kilometers and at a height of up to 30 kilometers under intense enemy fire, in conditions of electromagnetic interference.
Today, when potential threats have reached hypersonic speed, there is a need for new training and doctrine. In this regard, Russia, guided by the motto “the best training is carried out as close as possible to real conditions”, evaluated the opportunities available and created “Favorite-RM”. C4Defence has studied the favorite favorite hypersonic target rocket.
The Favorit-RM hypersonic intelligent target system was developed on the basis of 5V55 missiles, which are used in S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems. The warhead and guidance system using the missile escort method were removed, and instead of them additional equipment was installed to simulate the target, as well as telemetry and control equipment.
According to C4Defence, the new system, which consists of S-300PS launchers, allows you to simultaneously launch 16 targets. This achieves the density and intensity of the raid, which creates the most reliable simulation of air targets.
File RTThanks to the rocket engine, Favorit-RM targets can represent a wide variety of targets, such as helicopters, ballistic missiles, fighters, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles, over a fairly wide range of heights and speeds.
As a result of the transformations, Favorit-RM can reach a speed of over 7 thousand kilometers per hour in a short flight time. Thanks to this, the system can imitate the hypersonic threats of a new generation.
The system guarantees full training, providing even the implementation of possible maneuvers to evade targets from attacks. Thanks to the electronic equipment in its structure, Favorit-RM can transmit all parameters up to the moment of impact through the data transmission channel to the ground control station and provide data analysis.
