Russian military medical aid convoy en route to Lombardy

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Several trucks carrying Russian virologists and military doctors were filmed this Wednesday, March 25, as they headed for the Italian city of Bergamo plagued by Covid-19.

A convoy of 22 trucks and several buses with Russian virologists and military doctors on board is expected to arrive in the evening in Bergamo, one of the Italian cities most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

A video of the departure of the convoy from the Italian air base at Pratica di Mare, 30 kilometers southwest of Rome has been posted online, as has that of its journey to Florence where it stopped after 250 kilometers.

After refueling in Florence, the convoy set off again. The total route is approximately 600 kilometers. The vehicles are escorted by the Carabinieri.

Russian aid

Between March 22 and 25, 15 Russian planes transported around 100 virology specialists and eight teams of doctors experienced in infection control to Italy, as well as a large quantity of medical equipment.
