Russian fleet monitors NATO ships in the Barents Sea

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Russia’s Northern Fleet began to monitor a group of NATO warships, which entered the Barents Sea.

The squad consists of the American missile destroyers Porter, Donald Cook and Roosevelt, as well as the British frigate Kent, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reports.

The United States Navy explains that the ships will conduct a joint operation to ensure security in the difficult weather conditions of the Arctic.

This is the first U.S. warship entry into the Barents Sea since the 80s, Americans emphasize. They also claim that they warned the Russian military about their visit on May 1.
