Rocket crash site found on moon

(ORDO NEWS) — The reconnaissance probe Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter discovered the place where the remains of an earth rocket fell on the moon.

Due to the collision that occurred on March 4, 2022, an unusual double crater formed on the surface of the Earth’s natural satellite, consisting of two funnels with a diameter of 18 and 16 meters.

NASA researchers note that all previous collisions of spacecraft with the moon left a single funnel. For example, four craters from the Apollo ships, which were much larger, over 35 meters. The researchers believe that the unusual shape of the explosive funnel will help identify the missile.

Let me remind you that it is still unknown whose rocket it crashed into the moon. At first, astronomers assumed that this was the stage of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, which launched climate satellites in 2015.

However, this version was rejected, since the orbit along which the unknown object moved did not correspond to the Falcon 9 orbit.

The researchers called the second stage of the Chinese Chang’e 5-T1 rocket, launched in 2014, as the most likely, but Chinese officials claimed that the second stage of their rocket burned up in the atmosphere.
