US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The resumption of operation of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will occur no earlier than the end of summer or the beginning of autumn due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was reported on Friday by The Wall Street Journal.
According to newspaper sources, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not yet approved changes to its software made by the American Aircraft Corporation, because the experts of the aircraft regulator are still studying them. Due to the situation with coronavirus, the verification and approval of these improvements is delayed.
In particular, the work of the FAA specialists was complicated by the need for self-isolation of many employees, and transport restrictions made it impossible to conduct test flights with the participation of foreign pilots and consult the FAA with international flight controllers.
In January, Boeing announced that it expects the resumption of the 737 MAX in mid-2020.
