(ORDO NEWS) — Dysphagia may indicate lung cancer. The Roy Castle Foundation warns about this, writes Express.
Lung cancer is often detected in advanced stages, when tumor growth creates problems and difficulties in daily life, the material says. Dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing and passing food through the throat, is one such problem.
“It can be caused by cancer or infections like thrush,” the foundation explained.
With dysphagia, in addition to difficulty swallowing, patients often experience pain and burning.
The National Health Service of England (NHS) recalled other symptoms of lung cancer. These include a cough that lasts more than three weeks, pain when breathing or coughing, persistent shortness of breath, loss of appetite or unexplained weight loss, persistent fatigue, and respiratory infections.
In addition, the NHS has listed factors that increase the risk of cancer. First of all, this is smoking, including passive smoking, as well as inhalation of exhaust gases and interaction with certain chemicals – for example, asbestos and silicon dioxide.
