(ORDO NEWS) — For a long time, the United States government denied that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had experimented on civilians since the 1950s.
However, in 1977, as a result of the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act, 20,000 previously classified documents came to light, which led to a series of Senate hearings about the CIA’s mind control program.
Evidence clearly showed that the US government orchestrated the manipulation of American citizens through drugs, hypnosis, subliminal persuasion, sensory deprivation, electroshock therapy, verbal and sexual abuse, and even torture.
The goal of all these methods was behavior modification experiments.
Despite the large amount of evidence, CIA Director Richard Helms apparently destroyed the worst files on MKUltra in 1973.
In addition, the government has awarded contracts for such projects to over 80 different pharmaceutical companies, prisons, hospitals and universities.
As a result, most of the operations of the program remain unexplained. To this day, no one has been held accountable for this brutal program and its negative impact on participants.
