police were chasing an unmanned taxi

(ORDO NEWS) — Police from San Francisco tried to stop a taxi because the car was driving in the evening without the headlights on, but when law enforcement officers approached the car, they found that no one was inside. The car then took part in the time-honored American tradition of police chases.

The video, filmed by an eyewitness watching the action, shows a police officer standing next to a self-driving taxi owned by Cruise, a subsidiary of General Motors that is allowed to test its self-driving taxis on the streets of San Francisco.

The clip begins with one of the cops approaching the robo-taxi, and someone off-screen yells that “there’s no one in it.”

The policeman checks the car and then starts back to the police car as the taxi takes off and crosses the intersection before coming to a stop at the curb.
