(ORDO NEWS) — Experts have conducted several studies that have shown that if you walk every day in the fresh air and at the same time take 4 thousand steps, then in this way you can not only improve your health, but also prolong your life years. In the case of people over 50, the risk of death is reduced by almost half.
The experts, led by Dr. Pedro Saint-Maurice, analyzed information on 4,840 people. All of them walked some distance every day in 2003-2006. Then the specialists monitored their health for almost 18 years.
The published material says that the study participants who walked 8-10 thousand steps daily lived longer than those who walked 4 thousand or less. But walking 10 kilometers every day is quite problematic and, perhaps, not even necessary.
Scientists have concluded that 4,000 steps every day can improve health and increase human life expectancy. At the same time, there was a decrease in mortality by half among people who overcame the age barrier of 50 years.
