(ORDO NEWS) — On March 4, not a Falcon 9 rocket stage will fall on the far side of the Moon, as previously reported, part of the Chinese Long March 3C rocket.
This was stated by astronomer Bill Gray, who monitors space debris in orbit around our planet.
Astronomer Bill Gray posted the error on his website. The specialist admitted that the unidentified space object, which was discovered by him and other experts back in 2015, is most likely part of the Chinese Long March 3C rocket, and not the Falcon 9 stage.
“An object with the index WE0913A until recently was associated with the Deep Space Climate Observatory mission – it was assumed that this was the stage of the Falcon 9 rocket that launched DSCOVR into space in February 2015.
But over time, it became clear that this erroneous assumption was the first John Georgini of NASA‘s Jet Propulsion Laboratory pointed out the error,” Gray said.
The specialist added that the Long March 3C rocket was used to launch the Chinese Chang’e-5T1 vehicle in October 2014.
Now part of the rocket will fall on the moon – astronomers have determined that this will happen on March 4, 2022.
Earlier, the whole world reacted violently to the news about the expected fall on the moon of part of the SpaceX rocket – the company was criticized for not being able to dispose of part of its space carrier.
