Nigeria – 169 killed, 191 hospitalized as a result of the spread of cholera

(ORDO NEWS) — The death toll from the cholera outbreak, which struck 41 of the 44 local government districts in Kano State, rose to 169.

The director of the public health department of the Kano State Department of Health, Dr. Ashiru Rajab, who confirmed this in an interview with reporters, said the victims had been reported in the state over the past three months.

Dr Rajab said about 191 casualties are currently being treated at various medical facilities in the state. The director was also quick to announce that the government is working tirelessly to stop and resolve the situation.

According to him, “We have reported 5,221 cases in the past three months. About 4,860 have been treated and discharged. We currently have 191 active cases in various facilities across the state, while 169 deaths have been reported in 41 local government districts. state.

“The Kano State government has launched a massive campaign to inform and educate the public, especially rural residents, about the measures necessary to maintain environmental and personal hygiene to avoid disease outbreaks.”

“In addition, the government has provided essential medicines such as solutions, medicines and other necessary supplies to government hospitals to combat this threat,” said Dr Rajab.
