New York begin to take plasma from ill COVID-19

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The New York blood donor center begins to take the plasma of patients with coronavirus – it contains antibodies against COVID-19, which will be used in the treatment of other patients, the center’s website said in a statement.

“The New York Blood Center will be the first center to receive plasma from people who recovered after COVID-19 to treat other patients,” it was reported.

It is assumed that patients will be transfused with donor plasma in order to use donor antibodies to more quickly clear the patient of the virus. “Yesterday, the US Food and Drug Administration approved the treatment (this type of treatment – ed.) For use in certain cases, and the New York Blood Center will be the first to collect plasma from patients who have had COVID-19,” in the message.
