(ORDO NEWS) — Japanese design studio Nendo has created a golden Christmas tree for Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, Tokyo.
It’s not just a cone with twinkling star-shaped cutouts, though behind each piece are 416 compact fans that coordinate the airflow and keep the stars ‘blinking’.
The 7.5 meter high champagne golden Christmas tree consists of numerous carved parts resembling sparkling lights.
Thanks to the programmed air supply, the parts not only sway and move with the lights, but can suddenly stop swaying at a programmed time.
They can also smoothly rise upwards: combinations of movement show a virtuoso flicker in a spiral – either random dots or reminiscent of ripples.
