(ORDO NEWS) — During the volcanic eruptions in Iceland in August 2022 and from March to September 2021, something strange was observed.
Initially, these effusive eruptions were thought to originate from the Krisuvik volcanic complex.
However, the direction of the cracks, the size of the eruption, and the absence of an eruption were different from what was expected.
Based on this and other data, the last two eruptions at Geldingadalir and Meradalira have been identified as coming from a completely separate and completely new volcano.
This new volcano is known as Fagradalsfjall.
