(ORDO NEWS) — A new virus was found in rodents in a laboratory in Wuhan. It is similar to poliomavirus, but passes in a mild form. It is reported by the Daily Mail.
It is specified that this virus was detected in zebra mice in Kenya in 2016 and 2019. It was later sent for analysis to a center in China.
At the moment, the effect of the virus on humans is unknown, as it requires more research, scientists said. It is difficult to draw any conclusions about its infectiousness and pathogenicity.
Earlier, scientists at the University of Cyprus, together with colleagues from the Los Alamos National Laboratory, discovered a new strain of HIV.
It was noted that it was found in 14 men who were tested on the island from 2017 to 2021. Among them were citizens of Cyprus, Great Britain, Bulgaria and Nigeria from 25 to 75 years old. Most of them lived in the Paphos area.
