New images of Jupiter
(ORDO NEWS) — Two new photos of Jupiter and Europa were taken from the Hubble Space Telescope. The image shows a giant storm on the planet.
The photo was taken on August 25, 2020, when the planet was at a distance of 633 million kilometers from Earth. It shows a white storm in the northern latitudes, which moves at a speed of 560 km / h.
While storms are frequent in the region, this particular disturbance appears to have a greater structure than has previously been observed. Behind the trail are small dark clots counterclockwise, which were not there in the past. Scientists believe this could be the beginning of a great white spot that rivals the legendary Great Red Spot in the southern hemisphere.
To the left of the gas, giant is Jupiter’s icy moon Europa. It is believed that this moon hides a liquid ocean under its ice crust, making this moon a prime target in the search for habitable worlds outside of Earth.
