(ORDO NEWS) — The Americans equipped the Mojave drone with a pair of multi-barreled rapid-fire machine guns. This is one of the first cases of equipping strike UAVs with weapons of this type.
The General Atomics Mojave unmanned reconnaissance vehicle has become one of the main US defense innovations recently introduced. He was initially positioned as a carrier of a large number of different weapons.
As it became known the other day, the drone was equipped with two installations from Dillon Aero with multi-barreled rapid-fire machine guns. In addition to them, the UAV was armed with eight guided missiles, also mounted on external holders.
This is not the most “dangerous” combat load option. One of them involves the suspension of 16 AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missiles at once, which is comparable to the combat load of an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.
The Mojave drone made its first flight last year. To date, only one apparatus of this type has been built.
Recall that a few years ago, the Americans tested the Reaper UAV with a suspension of eight AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. In its normal configuration, the drone carries no more than four of these munitions.
