(ORDO NEWS) — How long this settlement existed and why it was abandoned about five thousand years ago, experts have not yet figured out. The previous discovery of scientists is half a millennium younger than this one.
The oldest known buildings in the UAE were discovered by archaeologists near Abu Dhabi. They believe that earlier found ruins probably housed the first communities on the territory of this rich country.
These are simple round rooms. Hundreds of artifacts awaited scientists in the rooms, including elaborately crafted stone arrowheads for hunting.
“These archaeological finds have demonstrated that people settled and built houses here eight and a half thousand years ago.
We also established that it was an advanced society that for thousands of years only sought progress,” the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism quotes the words its chairman, Mohamed al-Mubarak.

Mohamed al-Mubarak added that the discovered objects make it possible to better understand the history and understand the cultural ties of the people who once lived on the modern territory of the UAE.
Previously, it was assumed that the catalyst for the development of settlements in the area was trade routes, which just appeared in the Neolithic period.
The latest discovery proves that people began to live here much earlier. Before that, the building on the island of Marawah was considered the oldest. Its age is 500 years less than that of the “new” ruins.
