(ORDO NEWS) — Researchers at the US space agency are training artificial intelligence (AI) to use features on the lunar surface to help move people and spacecraft on the moon.
The new navigation system will use images of the lunar surface obtained from a network of orbiting satellites and compare them with existing topographic maps of the moon to determine the location of an object to an accuracy of nine meters.
The system is expected to help future astronauts and lunar rovers better navigate the surface of the moon.
