(ORDO NEWS) — A NASA task force has released a report that says there will be a noticeable rise in sea levels in the near future.
Until 2050, the level of the world‘s oceans will increase by an average of 25-30 centimeters, which can lead to quite serious consequences for the entire Earth.
Bill Nelson, who serves as administrator of NASA, noted that the time has come to take certain actions in order to fully solve the current climate crisis. This report shows that in just three decades, ocean height could increase by about the same amount as it has in the last century.
In recent years, it has become clear that the ongoing climate change is caused by human activity. With the help of the report, the data that was obtained back in 2017 was updated.
It contains information on how the ocean level will change up to 2150. At the same time, for the first time, it was possible to obtain a forecast for such a short time period.
NASA plans to build five large observatories over the next ten years. Due to this, experts will be able to understand what exactly is happening with the atmosphere of our planet, waters, land and ice.
The Surface Water and Ocean Topography Agency (SWOT) will soon be able to provide detailed information regarding the elevation of lakes, streams and rivers. Already in November, a special SWOT apparatus will be launched. For this, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will be used.
The report provided by the task force was a very wake-up call for the US, but at the same time it has some positive aspects.
He provided certain information that is needed in order for humanity to begin to act as quickly as possible. Due to this, it will be possible to ensure a bright future and, possibly, stabilize the situation with climate change.
