(ORDO NEWS) — The US space agency NASA reported the loss of communication with the Capstone (Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment) launched to the Moon. This is reported by the website of the agency.
Capstone is reportedly having communication issues. NASA employees are trying to find out the cause of the malfunction and restore communication.
They have several days before the moment when the device will need to adjust the flight path.
The Capstone launch took place on June 28 as part of the Artemis mission, which aims to land astronauts on the moon.
The program consists of three stages – sending the Space Launch System carrier rocket of the Orion spacecraft into outer space; flyby around the moon next year with a crew on board; delivery of astronauts to the natural satellite of the Earth by 2025, and then their subsequent sending to Mars in the mid-2030s.
