(ORDO NEWS) — NASA announced that the Curiosity rover found a rock fragment of unknown origin on the surface of the planet. Experts believe that it may be a meteorite that fell on Mars from outside.
A sample about 30 centimeters wide, codenamed Cacao, refers to the so-called. category of “unknown stones”.
According to NASA, it is made up of an alloy of iron and nickel.
While experts are not ready to make definitive statements about the origin of Cacao, Curiosity will first conduct an investigation to find out if there are other stones that have aged in a similar way on the surface of Mars.
Recall that this is not the first meteorite found by Curiosity on Mars. In 2014, the probe found the remains of a large meteorite, nicknamed “The Beast”.
In 2016, he found a smaller rock – NASA named it Egg Rock.
