(ORDO NEWS) — Researchers from NASA organized a project called Cloudspotting on Mars. Within its framework, anyone can look at photographs collected by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) over 16 years to find Martian clouds on them.
The goal of the project is to find an answer to the question of why the Red Planet has lost most of its atmosphere. And this can help… clouds. There are two types of clouds on Mars.
The former are made up of water vapor, while the latter are made up of dry ice crystals. Understanding where and how different clouds form will help researchers study how the Red Planet’s atmosphere functions and how high water vapor can rise.
