(ORDO NEWS) — Scientists from the United States, led by Dr. Martha Guache-Ferret, who works at the Chan Harvard School of Public Health, made a statement that if you regularly consume olive oil, you can significantly reduce the risk of death from a variety of diseases.
The product reliably protects against problems with the heart and blood vessels, oncology, neurodegenerative or respiratory pathologies.
The researchers analyzed the observations that were conducted for quite a few years. They monitored the health and well-being of over 60 thousand women, as well as 32 thousand men who did not suffer from cancer or cardiovascular diseases in 1990. It was then that this large-scale study began.
The analysis was based on the results of two different multivariate studies – Nurses’ Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-up Study.
They have been held in the United States since the mid-70s of the last century. Also, the questionnaires of participants for 28 years were additionally studied.
They were filled every four years. The people who participated in the study noted the amount of food, the presence of certain types of oils or fats that could be used for cooking.
Over the past 28 years, 36,856 volunteers have died. It was found that among those who regularly consumed olive oil, the risk of death due to heart or vascular problems is 19% lower when compared with those who did not have this product in their diet.
