(ORDO NEWS) — Careful examination of the mummy from the San Pedro Mountains is currently impossible. Why? Like countless other significant discoveries and artifacts, it has been lost.
In the summer of 1940, two enterprising gentlemen were searching for gold in the San Pedro Mountains in the US state of Wyoming.
Raking up another blockage of rock, the prospectors stumbled upon the entrance to a small cave. It was only possible to get there by crawling, but would this be a hindrance for the miners?
“What if there’s Indian gold inside?” With that thought, the men crawled into the cave.
But neither gold nor treasures were found in the cave, but something more curious was found – a perfectly preserved mummy of a tiny man.
A wrinkled old man, cross-legged and folding his long hands on his knees, sat on a small ledge, looking sadly ahead of him. With a flattened skull, bulging eyes, and dark brown skin, the mummy looked rather odd.
But what impressed me the most was her size. The height of the mummy of San Pedro in a sitting position did not exceed six and a half inches, that is, a little over 16 centimeters. And if she could straighten up, then her height would hardly exceed 36 centimeters.
Reactions to the discovery of the mummy of San Pedro
Journalists quickly learned about the find, a photograph of the “old man” appeared in the local newspaper, and over time, experts began to study the mummy.
And their opinions about Pedro (and what else to call a small creature found in the mountains of San Pedro?) were immediately divided. Someone immediately considered all this to be a fake, invented by the gold miners themselves.
Many considered the photographs of the mummy from San Pedro to be a fake. Other “experts” believed in the find, but said that this mummy was not an adult, but a baby. In their opinion, the Indians simply mummified the newborn.
However, there was also a third group of commentators, by the way, the most numerous. They, not without reason, considered Pedro a grown man. Indeed, a more detailed analysis showed that the “baby” has a full mouth of teeth, and in addition, he has ominously pointed fangs.
Traces of meat were also found in the baby’s stomach, which leads to the obvious question – what kind of meat could the baby eat? And one more important detail: judging by the damage to the limbs, skull and spine, Pedro’s death was caused by violence.
What then is a mummy?
Then the experts remembered the legends of the Shoshone Indian tribe, who once lived in Wyoming, about the Nimerigars – the mysterious “race of dwarfs”, “tiny people“, “little spirits”, as they were also called.
These monsters, as the old Indians said as they lit their pipes, though small in stature, were great in terms of malice and deceit. For example, they set up ambushes in the gorges of the Rocky Mountains and fired arrows at honest Indians.
Moreover, their arrows were not simple, but with poisoned tips. These tiny people were not averse to resorting to black magic if something happened. In a word, they were harmful – terrible! No wonder the Shoshone language nimerigara means “cannibals.”
It all looks like a fairy tale from a grandmother’s closet, but at the end of the 18th century, one of the British missionaries in Coshockton, Ohio, stumbled upon a whole cemetery of dwarfs, about which he left a note:
“I saw in Coshocton long rows of little people’s graves. They were buried with their heads to the west, where the sun was hidden behind the mountains. And this gave rise to the theory that these people worshiped the sun.”
It would be nice to take a look at these amazing burials, but the problem is that now there is not a single cemetery in Coshocton – all the lands have long been plowed up for unknown reasons.
And with a mummy from the mountains of San Pedro, too, everything is not easy. It would be nice to explore it with modern equipment and find out more about its origins, but… the thing is, Pedro has disappeared.
What happened to the mummy?
For some time, the mummy was in one of the stores in the city of Casper, frightening and at the same time attracting customers.
Then she was taken to a local university for further study, after which Pedro was sent to one private collection, then another, and today the footprint of the mummy from the San Pedro mountains has completely disappeared into time and space.
Not only historians – anthropologists and other serious people are looking for him to confirm or refute Pedro’s belonging to the “race of dwarfs”. Fans of UFOs and all sorts of “X-Files” are waiting for news about the mummy with no less impatience.
However, to the question of who Pedro is, they have already answered for themselves with a high degree of certainty – of course, an alien from outer space. Because only aliens can have such an appearance.
