(ORDO NEWS) — Experts have fixed a radio signal source near the center of the galaxy, which was named ASKAP J173608.2-321635. At the moment, scientists cannot say which object in space can emit signals with such strange properties.
Reported by Sciencealert.
Ziteng Wang from Australia suggested that ASKAP may actually be part of completely new space objects that can only be captured using radio images. In order to record these radio signals, a special radio interferometer was used, which has 36 antennas connected to each other.
The new radio source is behaving very strangely. Initially, the signals are sent for several weeks, and then completely disappear.
The signals are characterized by a high level of polarization, which is the reason for the distortion of the orientation of the wave oscillations not only linearly, but also in a circle. Scientists note that more research and observation is needed to pinpoint the source of these signals.
A radio source is any space object that can emit radio waves in varying amounts. The most powerful today are some types of nebulae, pulsars, quasars, and various radio galaxies.
