US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — One of the nine engines in the first stage of the Falcon-9 launch vehicle turned off prematurely when the Starlink satellites were launched, this did not prevent the spacecraft from entering the calculated orbit, said SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
“There was an early shutdown of the engine in flight (rockets), but this did not affect the launch of (satellites) into orbit. It shows the importance of having 9 engines,” he wrote on Twitter.
According to Musk, a thorough investigation of engine failure will be carried out before the next launch.
On Wednesday , the Falcon 9 rocket launched from the launch site at Cape Canaveral, which launched 60 Starlink communications satellites into orbit. The spent first stage could not sit on a platform in the Atlantic Ocean.
