(ORDO NEWS) — The Pyramid of Cheops is one of the oldest structures that can be found on the Giza plateau. According to scientists, the structure was erected for twenty years for the pharaoh Khufu (Cheops). The pyramid weighs 6 million tons, individual blocks are tightened by 80 tons. During the last study of the pyramid, experts noticed several blocks at the base, which have a number of “anomalies”.
Archaeologists have reported on empty areas in the pyramid itself, which are also called internal air currents. Experts noticed them while searching for hidden cameras inside the building using a thermal imager.
One of the anomalies was found at ground level on the eastern side of the pyramid. First comes the same row of stones, and then a different one. Mamduh al-Damati, Minister of Antiquities, believes that Khufu wants to tell us his secrets.
The discovery was made by the specialists from Scan Pyramid. A group of archaeologists in 2017 managed to find a large void near the queen’s chamber. Two years later, it turned out that there is also a second large chamber, which is located on the right side of the pharaoh’s chamber.
The new void is located above the gallery and is thirty meters long. A void was left for the descending corridor. Dr. Zahi Hawass from the Ministry of Antiquities believes that the body of the pharaoh may be hiding in this space. Each time, it is possible to find more and more voids, which are potential burial places of the ruler.
Egyptian archaeologists cherish hopes not only to find Khufu’s mummy, but also to unravel other mysteries of Ancient Egypt. Scientists have already figured out for sure that materials for the construction of the pyramids were transported along the Nile. Without the river, these works of art would not exist.
