Million more COVID-19 cases in just two weeks in the US

(ORDO NEWS) — At the moment, more than 4 million cases of coronavirus have been registered in the United States.

There were at least 4,021,000 cases of COVID-19 reported in the US as of Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The infection rate has continued to rise since the start of the pandemic. CNN reports that it took just 99 days for the first million people in the United States to get sick after the first case was reported on Jan.21.

The virus infected 2 million people 43 days later and 3 million just 28 days after that.

As of Thursday, there have been about 144,000 coronavirus deaths.

The basic model used to assess the impact of the coronavirus outbreak in the United States currently shows that the United States will have achieved 219,864 deaths by November 1, 2020, based on current trends.

On Wednesday, 1,100 consecutive coronavirus deaths were recorded for the second time. The last time COVID-19 deaths exceeded 1,000 per day in May.
