Merkel assured that vaccines will be available worldwide

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Coronavirus vaccines being developed in the European Union will be available worldwide, assured German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

“We are developing vaccines, medicines and offering good diagnostic opportunities for all people around the world,” the chancellor said in her video message, which was published on Saturday, May 2, on the official website of the German government .

Berlin takes this responsibility, Merkel emphasized.

She noted that about € 8 billion was still not enough for vaccine development, but indicated that Germany would make a “significant financial contribution” to this work. The Chancellor added that Germany intends to work closely with WHO , which plays a key role in combating the coronavirus pandemic .

The issue of financing the development of vaccines, among others, is likely to be discussed at a conference of donor countries organized by the European Commission on the fight against coronavirus. The event will be held on Monday, May 4. The German government has already confirmed that Merkel will take part in the conference.
