(ORDO NEWS) — The Long March-5B launch vehicle successfully launched the Mentian (Dreams of Heaven) laboratory module into space, which became the third (and currently the last) module of the Chinese Tiangong orbital station.
The Mentian module, weighing about 20 tons, 18 meters long and 4.2 meters in diameter, will join Wentian as the station’s second laboratory module.
Both modules will be connected to the main Tianhe module, where the crew lives and works.
Interestingly, Tiangong may at some point be the only operating space station if the operation of the ISS ends in 2030.
