US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday, in response to a question whether Moscow would consider resuming cooperation with OPEC that his country wanted to see oil prices rise above their current level of $ 28 a barrel.
“We will follow the situation in the global oil markets very closely and seek to set a forecast for the near and medium term,” Peskov said. Our position (regarding studying return to joint action) will depend on this.”
“But of course (the current price of oil) is low, and we want higher prices,” he added.
Talks between OPEC and non-OPEC producers on continued coordinated production cuts have collapsed this month. The current agreement expires on March 31.
